For almost a decade, the industry has strived to reduce the usage of coolant or to apply dry machining especially the aerospace industry; they took the initiative and started minimum coolant with high-pressure air spray in the direction of the cutting edge. The result pretty promising with extremely low coolant consumption and acceptable tool life combined with high cutting speed. Special coating was applied on cutting inserts to produces heat resistance even at temperature of 1,000 degree C. This coating consists of titanium carbonitride and a multi layer aluminum oxide coating with a special nano-level structure.
